Aquisição e descarte de equipamentos eletroeletrônicos nos Campi da UFPB: estudo de caso dos cartuchos e toners.

Abstract

The increase in technology and, consequently, the use of computers and printers, cartridges and toners have become more and more present in our everyday life for printing, whether in ink or laser. In a higher education institution, the acquisition of this kind of material is high, which results in a larger amount of waste generated. This study was carried out at the campi of UFPB, and had the objective of analyzing the consumption of these materials (cartridges and toners) from 2014 to 2017, based on the data collected for the elaboration of the Sustainable Logistics Management Plan (PGLS) of UFPB, which is a recommendation of the Ministry of Planning Budget and Management (MPOG) for all public institutions of higher education. It was also analyzed the disposal of these cartridges from tables provided by Environmental Management Commission of UFPB (CGA), and observed if the process of reverse logistics is being executed correctly, as well as verified the programmed obsolescence of the equipment. The results show that the acquisition of cartridges has been reduced, but much of the useless cartridges are not collected. We concluded that measures should be adopted in order to improve the management of this material and to attend the requirements of the sustainable logistics in a public institution.
