ENTRE LINHAS, PONTOS E NÓS: bordado, trabalho e informalidade

Abstract

Since the last few years, Brazil has suffered from an economic and social crisis, which has worsened with the Covid-19 pandemic phenomenon, decreed by the WHO in March 2020. As a result, the commerce of manual products through the internet has intensified as an alternative to the lack of employment, because it is a sort of entrepreneurship that does not require a large initial investment compared to other types of commerce such as physical stores, for example. That said, the focus of this work will be on women workers who make, mainly, free embroidery in Brazil, and the path they traveled in their lives until the decision to undertake an informal business as a means of existence. Through social trajectory analysis, we will seek to understand the nuances of their stories, the impact of the latest economic and political crises occurring in Brazil since the mid-2010s, on the lives of these women, as well as the projections they make for their future. We will also try to identify which resources are being used in the search for professional success based on their presence on the Internet.
