JOGANDO, INTERAGINDO E APRENDENDO: CONEXÕES INTERDISCIPLINARES ENTRE ESPORTES E A LÍNGUA INGLESA

Abstract

Education in Brazil has been going through several transformations, demanding new knowledge and didactic organization of schools.In view of these changes, interdisciplinary planning presents a proposal for integration and new learning in the school context. The main objective of this study was to investigate the influence of Indoor Hockey practices on English language learning activities. This research has a qualitative nature, with descriptive and crosssectional aspects. Twelve High school students, aged between 14 and 20 years old, of both sexes, enrolled in a school in the city of João Pessoa took part in this study. For the analysis of responses,the construct of the experiential metafunction was used, which is carried out linguistically through the Transitivity System, one of the most used for linguistic investigation. As main results, the level of interest and motivation of the participants was satisfactory, both in class and outside of it with informal interaction with teachers. It was also possible to observe the interest in some of the students' responses in having more contact with the English language, which may suggest an openness to models of bilingual schools, both at the Elementary and High School levels. In conclusion, we realize that each interdisciplinary experience leaves a legacy for excellence in Education, generating feedback on partnerships, which can foster areas, especially Languages. This articulation between English Language Teaching and Physical Education enabled students to be protagonists and critics about their own learning, using different resources.
