O homoerotismo no romance "Bom-crioulo"

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the novel Good-Creole from the perspective of literary studies and gender, making use of the contribution of Queer Theory, highlighting the role of these studies in deconstruction and reflection on the theme of heteronormativity in late nineteenth and early XX century. Qualifies the work in relation to gender, theme, language and period, contextualizing it as to Naturalism and the cultural-historical background of his time, as well as reflecting on his contribution to the literary movement homoerotic. Analyzes the two main characters of the work of Adolfo Caminha, especially its protagonist, Amaro, as black man, poor and struggling to establish an homoaffectivityidentity, raising the discussion on the subject at that time and thereafter. The work presents the characteristics of the literary style of the time, especially scientistic, deterministic bias present in the plot and that affects the characters, however, note the fluidity of gender identified in queer studies, demonstrating the relevance of the work to national literature.
