Abstract

It seeks to understand the harmony between Ranganathan's laws and René Barbier's sensitive listening. Understand sensitive listening as the art of listening with respect, and Ranganathan's laws as an indelible social force for libraries. Research carried out at the Berilo Borda Sectorial Library/Center for Applied Social Sciences (CCSA), Federal University of Paraíba. It presents the following guiding question: How is it possible to identify the relationship between Ranganathan's laws and sensitive listening, in the context of praxis originating in the CCSA/UFPB library? It has the general objective: to analyze the interfaces between Ranganathan's laws and sensitive listening, by satisfying the informational needs of CCSA/UFPB library users. It is a research of a basic nature, due to the intention of expanding the understanding of behaviors, without, however, trying to resolve or deal with such findings. It is a research with a qualitative approach, built from the reports of the

experiences of the administrative team of the aforementioned Library. It uses a semi- structured interview as a data collection instrument, supported by knowing how to listen with respect. It reveals in the results obtained that the research subjects recognize that the skill of sensitive listening is fundamental, as it is a factor that adds to the management of the library, in view of the laws of librarianship. They emphasize that the librarian needs to be competent to listen to the user, in order to offer a more humanized service in search of their informational satisfaction. It concludes that sensitive listening has an interface with the laws of librarianship, by providing the humanization of librarian praxis. However, despite their benefits, the researcher must adopt an attitude of affection and sensitivity, so as not to lose the value that these principles emanate. It was a positive experience, as it achieved the proposed objectives, based on the sharing of some reflections. However, the challenge remains: librarians and other researchers must share the art of listening to the user with respect. to use; To each reader its book: To each book its reader; Save the reader's time; The library is a growing organism.
