'Entre crimes e castigos': a (re)construção discursiva da identidade travesti em mortes noticiadas nos portais de notícias da Paraíba.

Abstract

Journalism's relationship with society has always been linked to nuances of meaning, since, by disseminating news, the History of the present time is created. With the advances made possible by the emergence of the Internet, the issues that permeate the results of the newsworthiness process were also expanded. In this work, we aim to problematize and discuss how journalistic news, by discursively narrating the deaths of transvestites and trans women, produce effects of meanings that return to historical prejudices and show the place of these discursive subjects constituting their identities. With this understanding, we use concepts of Discourse Analysis of French Line and Foucaultian theorizations as analytical devices of discursive productions that circulate in news about the deaths of transvestites and trans women, based on the Paraiba portals g1, T5 and Correio. The scope of the object of analysis considers 3 cases for the research problematizations: Sheila, Doroty and a transvestite that was not even identified, who died in the year 2020. We discuss, therefore, how the information listed in the news produces meaning effects that reveal stigmas and historical prejudices regarding transsexuality. We conclude, preliminarily, that in journalistic texts, discursivities are made present whose effects of meanings materialize a social conjecture that continues to marginalize, stigmatize and make social minorities invisible.
