Abstract

The Bag: an elegiac novel, written by José Urquiza, is a work that transports us to the heart of Paraíba, where lush nature and the mysteries of the backlands intertwine. In this narrative, we are introduced to Tatá, a curious anteater who finds a bag in the middle of the woods. The simple discovery of this object triggers a series of intriguing events. Curiosity spreads among the animals of the forest, and each of them has their own theory about the contents of the bag. Some believe it is a hidden treasure, while others imagine it could be a message from the gods. The elegiac novel leads us to reflect on the unknown, the search for meaning and the connection with the land. With poetic and engaging language, The Bag invites us to explore the popular imagination and the cultural richness of Paraíba. Through its pages, we are led to question our own beliefs and to value the small wonders we find in our daily lives. This work is part of the Paraíba Literária collection, an initiative of the Central Library of the Federal University of Paraíba to promote local literary talents.
