O PAPEL DO PROFISSIONAL DE LÍNGUAS ESTRANGEIRAS APLICADAS ÀS NEGOCIAÇÕES INTERNACIONAIS NA ADAPTAÇÃO DE JOGADORES EXPATRIADOS EM CLUBES DE FUTEBOL PROFISSIONAL

Abstract

This article deals with the professional of Foreign Languages Applied to International Negotiations professional and their role in the adaptation of expatriate players in professional football clubs and aims to identify how professionals in Foreign Languages Applied to International Business (LEA-NI) can assist football clubs in adapting expatriate players. To do this, the history of the Applied Foreign Languages graduation was brought into light, as well as its transformation into LEA-NI at the Federal University of Paraíba. Next, the LEA-NI professional was described using the Course’s Pedagogical Project, which details their linguistic and cultural competencies and skills. In addition, the characteristics of the difficulties in cultural adaptation faced by expatriate players at professional soccer clubs were investigated. The methodology used can be classified as qualitative and exploratory, with bibliographic and telematic research sources, in which authors who are experts in their fields were cited, promoting interdisciplinary dialogue. The results indicate that the skills of the LEA-NI professional give them the ability to work in the soccer market, helping the cultural adaptation process of expatriate players.
