O narrador-personagem no conto Rubrica, de Caio Fernando Abreu

Abstract

This work undertakes an analysis of the narrator's category in the short story Rubrica, present in the book Pedras de Calcutá, from the writer Caio Fernando Abreu. The goal is to investigate the position of the narrator in the twentieth century, before the rise of subjectivity over objectivity, in the reflection rather than action in contemporary narratives. The work is set in three parts. The first provides a historical overview of the military dictatorship, during which carries the narrative in question, seeking to understand how the external environment is the contemporary narrator. The second part presents the theoretical foundations about the narrator, through the elaborations of Theodor Adorno and Antonio Candido. The third and last part, at last, is about the analysis of the narrator in the short story Rubrica. The study has also the theoretical support of Roberto Schwarz, Marcelo Ridenti, Maria Helena Moreira Alves and a critical text about the theory of short story, by Arturo Gouveia.
