CUIDADOS PALIATIVOS: ABORDAGEM DO ASSISTENTE SOCIAL NA PEDIATRIA NA PANDEMIA DO COVID-19

Abstract

This study aims to present the approach and practices of Social Workers, focused on palliative care, acting in the care of pediatric oncology users during the Covid19 pandemic. For this purpose, it was carried out qualitative bibliographical research, with the use of SCIELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online) as a reseacher source, as well as TCCs surveys in the UFPB’s institutional repository and papers published in annals. For this matter, as previously mentioned, we brought the main approaches of the Social Worker in Palliative Care, among his/her essential activities are the reception, understanding, qualified listening and social assessment. The Social Worker will assess and acknowledge the individual’s reality, by understanding the child and the family’s suffering, as well as the negative impacts caused by the pandemics. It is important to be always clear that one of the greater axes of the profession is the informative and educational character in which the the Social Worker has the responsability of knowing the bureaucratic resources, such as legislation, rights, users’ forms of acquisition and insertion, through referrals made available by social networks of support.
