Abstract

This article presents an integrative bibliographic review that aims to discuss "Play and its Importance in the Learning Process in Early Childhood Education." The objective is to explore how play facilitates children's learning processes in early childhood education. The research highlights those playful activities play an essential role in cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development, Play is presented as a fundamental right of childhood, as established by the Declaration of the Rights of the Child and the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC). The study argues that play should be an integral part of the school curriculum, offering both free play and educator-mediated activities. This approach ensures the holistic development of children, promoting autonomy, creativity, and problem-solving skills while facilitating the learning of social and cultural rules. The study emphasizes that play is an essential practice for the comprehensive development of children in early childhood education, playing a central role in the learning process.
