O Sentido e a função da instituição escolar na visão de alunos do ensino médio

Abstract

This research focuses on the theme of school in the interface with youth. It's general objective was analyzed and understood the meaning and function that the school has for young people enrolled in regular high school at Escola Cidadã Integral e Técnica Francisca Ascenção Cunha (ECITFAC), located in the neighborhood of Bancários, in João Pessoa- PB. For this purpose, a questionnaire with closed questions was applied to all students at the school, to obtain data referring to sections of the students' educational background, why go to school, the meaning and function of this institution, and how formal education is constituted for and in their and their lives. Such data were issued from the description, composition and comparison of the information collected from the young people, in light of the theoretical references that underlie the themes of this investigation. The results sought that scholars consider the main function of the school to be preparation for the job market, training aimed at entering the university and the school's contribution so that students have better living conditions. This research is an attempt to understand the peculiarities and meanings of the permanence of young people in the school institution, trying to understand what they like most about school, the reasons that make them go to school, and the functions they dedicate to this institution. Finally, we emphasize the need to make the student feel an integral and necessary part of their education, with the school being a facilitator in this entire process.
