Parque Estadual da Pedra da Boca (PEPB): um olhar sobre sua geodiversidade e situação atual

Abstract

Turism has become more and more relevant in the set of forces that rule the worlwide economy, contributing positively in the creation of job offers and income and improving the quality of life of people. The tourist activity can be divided in segments in order to answer the needs of those who work with it, as well as easing the planning, management and market strategies of this activity. Many of those segments relate to nature and its elements, for example the ecoturism, adventure turism and geoturism. In that manner, the goal of this work was to identifiy the values of geodiversity and the current situation of the State Park of Pedra da Boca (PEPB), located in the county of Araruna, Paraíba, aiming to subside reflections regarding its potential as a spot for (geo)turism. In order to reach the proposed goals, a bibliographic revision referring to this subject and fieldworks with the intention of assess the information obtained in the bibliographic material, as well as collecting new data, took place. The obtained results point to the fact that the situation of the PEPB, regarding its infrastructure, is precarious both inside the Park as well as in its surroundings. It has been identified three tourist segments of greater occurrence in the park, which are: adventure tourism, religious tourism, scientific/educational tourism, and the impacts they have caused to the park. Regarding management, it has been observed that the Unity of Conservation does not hold effective gesture thus making it impossible to know the performance of the PEPB and the answers to some questions. As for the values of geodiversity, it has been identified that the UC has six values and fifteen subvalues of geodiversity. It can be thus concluded that the State Park of Pedra da Boca is rather lacking in infrastructure. No cartographic material with details of the State Park's area has been found during the research for references, which makes it harder for territory management and UC's planning. It was verified that the adventure and religious tourism are the most significant ones and also the ones that cause the most impact to the area. Regarding Management, after 16 years since PEPB was created, it remains lacking in an effectively active management. After the identification of the values of geodiversity, it becomes clear the geological and geomorphological significance of the PEPB.
