ASPECTOS DO SEMIÁRIDO NO ESTADO DA PARAÍBA: INDICADORES AGROPECUÁRIOS E DE SEGURANÇA FORRAGEIRA

Abstract

The semiarid region still often confused with the Polígono das Secas that has not existed since 2005 although it has been defined by Federal Law 175 of January 7, 1936. Its catchment area is 980,133.079 km ² involving a population of 22,598,318 inhabitants. For the state of Paraíba, specifically the semiarid region involves 170 municipalities, 48,676.947 km² (86.20%) of 56.469.466 km² and a total area of 2,092,400 inhabitants (55.55%) of the total population of 3,766,528 inhabitants. It is unknown within the state, however, that the proportion of coverage of the region in terms of Meso and Microregions. On the other hand, it is not known which participation semiarid portion of the state in terms of Effective Herd and Forage Security, among others. Likewise there are more detailed data about the region is unknown a more detailed indicators of agricultural and livestock carrying capacity in the region level and the state of Paraíba . Thus, it is important to collect data on official sources in order to obtain a pioneer one more systematic study that would indicate what the real state of the forage supply. In this sense, this research aimed to better represent the semiarid area in the state of Paraíba, seeking to delimit a space for effective contribution in the socio-economy of the State on several fronts historically relegated when associated themes semiaridity and development. As main objective is aimed to quantify the actual herd, a forage crop capacity of the semiarid Paraiba. From the data obtained from the IBGE, INSA/MCTI, using the program Microsoft Office Excel 2007 was made a Grid Matrix for the State of Paraíba. The data were produced specific frames containing totals or average. For the transformation of the number of animals used in animal units the values contained in Agenda of Rural Producer - BNB. It is remarkable influence in the region by land area, Meso, Micro-regions and municipalities covered. It is remarkable the livestock effective and forage support capacity xiii that if well managed and implemented could provide better value animals/forage thus avoiding the emergence of numerous drought/unpreparedness that it so associated to droughts with greater or lesser intensity and that profoundly affect the livestock quantity and quality.
