Práticas de promoção da leitura em bibliotecas escolares da rede privada de João Pessoa - PB

Abstract

In our society, reading has an important role when it comes to understanding the world, as well as facilitating social participation and the exercise of citizenship. The present work is an exploratory and descriptive research, with quantitative and qualitative approaches, whose general objective is to investigate the practices of reading promotion developed by the librarians in school libraries of the private network of the city of João Pessoa/PB. The methodological procedures included, in addition to reviewing the literature on the librarian, reading mediation and school library, to provide theoretical support for the research, it also covered the questionnaire application to the librarians of three school libraries in the city of João Pessoa/PB and data analysis procedures were anchored in the Bardin Content Analysis. The results achieved in the research point to a multiplicity of reading promotion practices that are developed in schools. It is concluded that the reading promotion practices developed in the school libraries involved in the study are diversified, reach the desired objectives and extrapolate the practices indicated in the relevant literature. In developing such practices, librarians involve the school community and the family collaborating to strengthen the bonds between library and community through reading.
