Por quê e para quê uma biblioteca no IPI Colégio e Curso?

Abstract

School libraries are primary spaces for information and knowledge responsible for the proximity of their users to the informational and cultural world. The aim of this research was to draw up a proposal for the implantation of the school library based on the contributions to the educational process and the social and intellectual formation of the IPI College and Course student. For this, the construction of the theoretical foundation approached from the beginning of the libraries to the planning process. Methodologically, the methodology adopted is classified as Applied Research (by its nature), Quantitative Research and Qualitative Research (problem approach), Exploratory and Descriptive Research (by the proposed objectives) and Bibliographic Research, Survey and Field Research (by technical procedures adopted). In the collection of data, the questionnaire was applied to the subjects of this research: students and teachers of IPI College and Course. With the result of the collected data, it was concluded the importance of implanting a space in the institution for a better development of the teaching-learning of the students and also for the pedagogical updating of the teachers in the execution of their activities. However, it is stated that the school library is an indispensable instrument for the community for the opportunity to develop reading and enable discovery, providing students with the interest and curiosity to seek new knowledge, arising not only from the reading practice but also from the services that a school library offers to stimulate the learning and the convivial school.
