O sagrado nas pinturas corporais indígenas potiguara da Paraíba: um diálogo entre a educação do campo e a etnomatemática, através dos saberes ancestrais

Abstract

The present research, The “Sacred” in the Potiguara Indigenous Body Paintings of Paraíba: a dialogue between rural education and ethnomathematics through ancestral knowledge. It had as general objective, to understand the process of the knowledge on the body paintings Indigenous Potiguaras of Paraíba, from flat geometric figures in the school, AKAjutibiró, located in the municipality of Baia da Traição, in the Valley of Manmaguape-PB. And as specific objectives, to identify which body paintings Indigenous Potiguaras are most used by the community; to verify what meanings and importance and how the mathematics teachers worked this practice, in the perspective of the recognition of ancestral knowledge. This work is a research with a qualitative approach, of the research-action type, and regarding the objectives, exploratory and observation. And the results were reflected from the dialogue between the thematic discussion and indigenous cultural knowledge (ethnomathematics). The same was disturbed by our indigenous experience and started with a search for a bibliographic review. It had a structured interview script and a questionnaire, as instruments for the research, where it was given to the teachers of the School's Mathematics subject to be reflected on. in the light of the activities that work in the classroom the flat geometric figures through the indigenous body paintings of their people. The ethnomatmatic aspect guiding the activities sought to know the importance and meaning attributed to each representation of body paintings with potiguara culture. And from the observations and analysis of the data, we identified the flat geometry involving the potiguara indigenous body paintings. The results also pointed out that the teachers of the school do not work in a systematic / planned way in the classroom the content of flat geometric figures, from the potiguara body paintings of their village in the school environment. At the end of the intervention, we suggest classes and activities with the thematic unit geometry and the content of flat geometric figures, based on the indigenous potiguara body paintings of Paraíba from the village in the classroom, in order to reflect a greater connection between figures and ancestry.
