A inclusão do aluno autista em uma escola da rede estadual de ensino de João Pessoa

Abstract

The present work entitled “The inclusion of the autistic student in a state school in João Pessoa” has as its object of study the inclusion and educational practice with a child with autism. The general objective of the work was to investigate the inclusion of the autistic student in a public school in the state of João Pessoa. We opted for a 2nd year elementary school classroom, with an autistic student enrolled in the school where the supervised internship activity was carried out. To this end, a survey of bibliographic and digital material and field research were carried out. The latter took place at the Antônio Pessoa State Elementary School, with subjects: the classroom teacher and the student with autism. During the field research, the instruments of observation and questionnaire were used. The first was to collect data related to the classroom's daily life, and the second applied to the class teacher, whose focus was to learn about her knowledge about autism, the methodologies and pedagogical practices that can favor the inclusion of the student in the environment and in the school routine. As for the results, they revealed that despite having knowledge about autism and using inclusive pedagogical practices, their teacher training did not adequately prepare them for this situation, and that this failure reflects the inclusion of students with autism in the regular school system. In addition, another aspect to be considered concerns the presence of caregivers, whose training needs to be compatible with the responsibility they assume. It is concluded, therefore, that despite some advances regarding the guarantee of access of these children to education in regular education, there is still a need for greater investments in the qualification and continuous training of teachers and caregivers.
