Abstract

Analyzes the image of the professional librarian, social representations built by the users of the Library Sector CCEN. Were collected and analyzed the literature on the theory of social representations, user study, the professional librarian and university library. About the research instrument used, the questionnaire was chosen, which was used to obtain data. The survey reveals the current image of the professional librarian in the face of numerous changes in our social environment, when it came to be called the Information Professional. An analysis of the results of research conducted in the Library Sector CCEN and another survey conducted in 2004 by Soares, where the author examines how the image of the professional librarian is passed through scenes of films studied. And the result was revealing because it showed some equivalence between the points of research, but also showed points where they differ greatly.
