Entrelaces do cristianismo e da religiosidade tradicional nas canções do Toré indígena potiguara da paraíba: uma análise literária

Abstract

The religions within Potiguara have, for centuries, been changed. Seeing the impact of these changes on Potiguara traditional religiosity, this work is an investigation of the existing ties between Christianity and traditional religiosity, considering the context of colonization and catechesis that permeate their experiences to this day. This study is part of an exploratory, documentary and bibliographic research, which focused on an analysis of the lyrics sung in the Toré Potiguara, so that we could observe the relationships made between elements of traditional Potiguara religiosity and elements of Christianity. The research had as general objective to analyze the influence/impact of Catholicism on the Potiguara indigenous belief through the songs sung in the Toré ritual, also seeking to understand its contribution from a cultural and literary point of view today. To achieve this goal, the main authors who supported this work were: Moonen (1989), Barcellos (2012) and Vieira (2019). The results pointed to a transformation of the ritual sphere and the field of religiosity that is very present in the culture and life of the Potiguara, but even in the face of this fusion, there is a preservation of traditional religiosity.
