Caracterização Geoambiental das cartas topográficas de Pitimbu e Alhandra

Abstract

The present academic work of graduation in Environmental Engineering has as general objective to verify the main geoenvironmental characteristics of the Topographic Charts of Pitimbu and Alhandra, located in the region of the Zona da Mata of the Brazilian northeast, under the environmental and geographic approaches, from the analysis of the environment study. The research area covers part of the south coast of Paraíba and part of the north coast of Pernambuco. Both research sites are located in the areas of the Coastal Trails sculpted on the poorly consolidated sediments of the Barreiras Formation. The method used is the qualitative, within the possibilities of the bibliographical survey, being therefore, of original study, based on the revision of the main landmarks and specialists concerned with the thematic subject selected here. As a result, the study concluded that the drainage network is strongly influenced by structure and tectonism, with a rectangular drainage pattern, interlaced fluvial channels, asymmetric drainage and abrupt inflections of courses. From the topographic profiles, it is possible to identify in the area the occurrence of block movements with tilts, a result of the tectonic influence in the region, as well as to verify the forms of the relief.
