VIOLÊNCIA NOS RELACIONAMENTOS ÍNTIMOS ENTRE JOVENS: UM ESTUDO TEÓRICO

Abstract

Violence in intimate relationships is a serious public health problem because it has negative consequences on the lives of the individuals involved, putting their well-being and physical and mental health at risk. Therefore, the present study had the general objective of bringing an overview of the studies published in the last ten years about violence in young people's intimate relationships, with the specific objectives of (1) define violent behaviors, seeking to understand them from the perspective of psychology, especially from the attachment theory; (2) define the types of violence in intimate relationships and the consequences for the physical and mental health of those involved; (3) highlight the Brazilian legislation in cases of violence in young people's intimate relationships; (4) explore recent studies that address the topic in question. For this, a bibliographic survey of scientific publications of the last decade was carried out in the national databases Scielo, Pepsic and Periódicos Capes. The results found point to the complexity of the problem in question, as well as to the harmful consequences for the physical and mental health of the individuals involved, in addition, Brazilian legislation was also addressed in this study. It is concluded that violence in young people's intimate relationships is an urgent social issue, which requires the development of preventive and therapeutic strategies to combat this problem and its consequences. In addition, there is a need for national scientific production on the subject and how it has been expressed in the young Brazilian population in recent years.
