O protagonismo de Alcinda : leitura na terceira idade

Abstract

Research conducted at Vila Vicentina Júlia Freire, in João Pessoa, Paraíba, institution that welcomes the elderly without distinction, whether economic, social, ethnicity or creed. An elderly woman becomes the subject of the research by being everywhere with a book at hand. The research question: Does reading as an instrument of improvement of life, leisure or therapy, has meaning for it? It aims to understand from when the reading has influenced his life and the daily life of his coexistence with other residents. The methodological pathway supports the exploratory, descriptive, qualitative approach, based on the principles of life history - oral history of the topical or focal type. It uses structured interview as a data collection technique. The theoretical foundation focuses on authors who dedicate themselves to reading, third age and the role of the librarian as mediator and developer of reading actions. The results meet categories established by the specific objectives, revealing a person with high astral, happy to talk about his life history and the family he constituted and his interest in reading. The reading activities carried out at Vila Vincentina are related to the proposals for inclusion and resocialization, contributing to autonomy, reinvigoration and dignity. It consists of a humanization tool, strengthening of citizenship, stimulating it to propose a literacy course, creating a library to insert shelters, helping them to reduce socio-affective shortage, removing loneliness and renewing their interest in life.
