MIGUILIM E SEU ROMANCE FAMILIAR: UMA LEITURA PSICANALÍTICA

Abstract

The writing of this work is an answer to a restlessness felt throughout the reading of the novel Campo Geral by Guimarães Rosa, especially throughout the development of the character Miguilim, which leaves his childhood towards adolescence, gradually entering the universe of adults. In his writings about the work of Jensen, we see Freud (2015) positioning himself as an apprentice of the writer’s knowledge. This writing followed the same path taken by Freud and sought to learn from the knowledge transmitted by Rosa. In this sense, relying on Lacanian psychoanalysis, the goal was to make a new reading of the work, questioning it from the psychoanalytic knowledge. For this, some concepts were revisited: the infantile, the objectal relation, the modes of feminine and masculine joy, the function of fantasy, the symptom and, finally, the processes of alienation and separation. In a second moment, these concepts were used as resources to produce a new reading of the novel. This second part is divided into three axes. In the first axis (1.) we question the structure of the novel as a family romance. Then, (2.) we question the development of Miguilim’s symptomatic construction. Finally, (3.) we question the processes of alienation and separation from his family web. At the end, we see that there is an use of fantasy in the construction of the novel: a screen that an eight-year-old puts before the real world that presents itself to him. This screen changes with the logical time that runs in the novel and frames the loose objects of its surroundings, locating them before the desire of the Other. In this crossing, we see that Miguilim goes through the process of symptomatic construction and the processes of alienation and separation, which are inseparable from the concept of fantasy. With these constructions, the details of the work gained a new brightness and the experience of reading was even more fruitful.
