Abstract

This research investigated the experiences of three guitar students in the undergraduate music course at the Federal University of Paraíba. The general objective of this study was to understand how guitar students at UFPB use YouTube for their musical development, based on the experiences of these students. The specific objectives were: to identify the literature on the subject; to characterize the platform and guitar content published on YouTube; to analyze how guitar students at UFPB use this content; and to reflect on the guitar learning processes through the platform. The methodology used was a qualitative approach, with data collection through the application of a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The results showed diverse experiences regarding how this platform contributes to the musical development of students, and the way in which students use YouTube in their studies. We verified the most sought-after content, how the relationship with YouTube changes throughout their education, and the main difficulties in using this media. The study showed how YouTube can be seen as a field for learning electric guitar.
