| Resumo: | This is a scientific bibliographical work , comprising from national and international source in the area of Botany and Pharmacology, with the objective of gathering a collection of information about Schinus terenbithifolius , including phytochemical, ethnobotanical, pharmacological aspects of the plant. Schinus terebinthifolius Raddi , known as aroeira , stands out for its pioneering and aggressivity allowing their occurrence in various habitats. Currently i t has caught the attention of the medical field thanks to many therapeutic actions arising out of its secondary metabolites : essential oils, tannins, flavonoids, among others. Described as a potent antimicrobial, the Schinus terebinthifolius Raddi also has proven to have anti - inflammatory and healing activity . As scientific environment increasingly has been reconnecting folk medicine to prove the phyto chemical aspects of the therapeutic arsenal used by it, evidence of the pharmacological actions of aroeira , shows up as a welcome example of the importance of this rapprochement . |
