Escolha da carreira docente: o que pensam as professoras iniciantes

Abstract

The choice of teaching career is something that raises many questions and has been the subject of many studies, in which we seek to understand the factors that lead people to choose this profession. In this perspective, this research sought to discuss how beginning teachers of elementary school in the public network of the municipality of João Pessoa-PB understand the profession. For this, a field research was carried out, based on the authors: Veiga (2008); Huberman (2000); Mublstedt and Hagemayer (2015) and Alves (2006), who discuss the teaching profession and the teaching life cycle. We also did a field research, in which three teachers with up to two years of profession were interviewed, working in the early years of elementary school. The results found point to the difficulties of the beginning teachers in the career, highlighting motivating elements for the permanence in the career the love of the profession and the commitment to the education of students. In conclusion, it refers to the need to reflect critically on this view of teaching that approaches the idea of vocation.
