Abstract

This work aims to analyze the representation of the protagonist, Hazel Morse, in the short story Big Blonde of Dorothy Parker. In the analysis of the narrative, it is considered the literary concept of "representation" together with the physical and psychological characterization of the protagonist linked to the spaces where she moves, as well as the secondary characters that circulate around the protagonist or in public and private spaces that make up the setting of the narrative. The feminine representations in the short story are stereotypes of American women at the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century; they represent objects of consumption, are dissatisfied and unhappy with their place in society, personal life, and become caricatures of themselves. It is evident, therefore, that the protagonist represents in a caricature form the woman as an object of consumption.
