As fronteiras entre o jornalismo literário e a literatura de ficção: uma análise estrutural e social da obra na pior em Paris e Londres, de George Orwell

Abstract

This monograph aims to understand the confluences between literary journalism and literary fiction in George Orwell’s first published work, Down and Out in Paris and London. Considering that much is discussed about the literary and social field that Orwell's works cover, as well as the bitransitive boundaries between the literary production he made and the social reality lived for him, this research has been made in order to analyze the work from the literature and society as well as fiction and non-fiction literature binomials perspective, with an emphasis on the literary journalism genre. Thereby, it is necessary to identify Orwell's biographical characteristics that allow a depth analysis of the relevance of his work to literature and society; Such as discussing the bitransitive relationship that surrounds the dichotomy between literature and society; exposing the dialogical characteristics of literary journalism and fiction literature, and also analyze the work according to its form and content. Therefore, this research was realized from a basic perspective, a descriptive character, under the deductive method, with a qualitative approach, and with bibliographic and documentary procedures. Thus, the conditions that defend the indissoluble relationship between literature and society, and the elements that take the work to the boundary between literary journalism and fiction literature are verified, which imposes the observation that the narrative in Down and Out in Paris and London establishes confluences between social reality and literary fiction through the confluence between the elements of social denunciation, as well as the factual characteristics that are linked to fictional elements in the work.
