A relação entre cosmologia xamânica e identidade Yanomami na narrativa de o surgimento dos pássaros

Abstract

For Western Eurocentric culture, the history of Brazil begins with the false discovery and, as a result of this “fact,” Portuguese colonization. However, for the original peoples, the history of Pindorama interspersed with their timeless ancestors. Thus, for the Yanomami people who speak the Western Xamatari language, their history and the history of the world are linked to ancestral cosmology, where the cosmos, the xapiri spirits, and the conceptions of human life (animals and people) are grounded in the demiurge Omama. Linked to this prism, the collection of stories in the work The Emergence of Birds, created by the Parahiteri group, focuses on presenting the Yanomami ancestral wisdom through narratives of the emergence of the world, of ancestral animals, and the time when they metamorphosed, constituting cosmological beliefs based on the Earth. Words such as naroriwë, hutukara, urihi, and hutukawë, which are very present in the writing, express the bridge between shamanic knowledge and the invisible world. From this perspective, the present article aims to analyze the universe integrated by the work, as indigenous literature essential to the conception of shamanism, to the perpetuation of collective memory, and to the contribution to the strengthening of Yanomami identity. Thus, as a theoretical and methodological framework, writings by indigenous relatives were used, highlighting their social places of production, as well as presenting the points of view of Western researchers who oppose the hegemonic narrative of scientific knowledge and have a sensory view of ancestral knowledge.
